![]() From this immigra tion of thirteen hardy souls in 1840 there came almost 300,000 travelers who left, depending on the source, from 30,000-50,000 graves along the way. Joel Walker, his family and three other church couples, traveling with fur traders, began it all. This is the story of the overland immigrants who followed the OregonCalifomia Trail from 1840 to 1860. There can be no doubt that the author read, evaluated, and used each of these sources of information. The bibliography lists 1,183 books, articles, letters and any other readable items pertaining to this.
